Safety Assured as Rail Operations Continue Near Jalgaon’s Overpass
The Central Railway reassures safety after a retaining wall collapse at a Jalgaon overpass, with no impact on rail services.

Jalgaon, September 13 (Daily Kiran) : The Central Railway is closely monitoring the situation at the Paladhi-Tarsod bypass highway overpass in Jalgaon, where a section of the retaining wall collapsed on July 31, 2026. Railway officials confirmed that train operations and tracks remain safe, with no disruption to rail traffic.
According to a press release from the Central Railway, the overpass is located at railway kilometer 423/16-18. Opened for road traffic on August 17, 2025, the structure includes two viaducts measuring 18 meters each and a main span of 35 meters.
In response to the incident, one of the two-lane roads of the overpass has been closed to vehicular traffic as a precaution. However, the two-lane route heading towards Nagpur remains operational.
The Central Railway emphasized that train services are functioning normally. Continuous monitoring of the site is being conducted, especially with the monsoon season approaching, and necessary safety measures are being implemented.
Following the incident, the matter was promptly raised with the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI). Ongoing correspondence and meetings are in place to ensure the stability of the retaining wall, develop proper drainage solutions, investigate the root causes of the collapse, and facilitate swift restoration and monitoring.
The Central Railway is still awaiting technical design details, a root cause analysis report, and a comprehensive restoration plan from the NHAI. Ensuring the safety of railway tracks, train operations, and assets is the top priority, and continuous coordination with NHAI officials is being maintained for site surveillance.
