Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian Departs for Tehran After Attending BRICS Summit in India

New Delhi, September 13 (Daily Kiran) : Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian departed for Tehran on Sunday after attending the 18th BRICS Summit in New Delhi. The Iranian embassy in India confirmed his departure on social media platform X, sharing a photo of the president as he left.

Before his flight, Pezeshkian expressed optimism about meeting Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi in Iran in the near future. The embassy posted a farewell message on X, stating, “Goodbye, my dear friend. I look forward to meeting you in Iran very soon.”

During his visit, Pezeshkian met with Indian President Droupadi Murmu at the Rashtrapati Bhavan. In their discussions, Murmu reiterated India’s commitment to establishing lasting peace through dialogue and diplomacy.

The President’s Secretariat highlighted that both leaders talked about the long-standing friendly relations between India and Iran, as well as cultural ties and strong connections between their peoples. Murmu emphasized the need for sustained peace through diplomatic efforts on regional and global issues.

Earlier, Prime Minister Modi also met with Pezeshkian on the sidelines of the BRICS Summit. Following their meeting, Modi remarked that India and Iran should advance with a long-term, mutually beneficial strategy. He noted that Pezeshkian’s visit was significant as it marked his first trip to India.

Modi shared on X, “Meaningful dialogue continues from Bishkek to Delhi. It was a pleasure to meet Iranian President Dr. Masoud Pezeshkian. His visit is special as it is his first trip to India.” The leaders agreed to strengthen India-Iran friendship and discussed regional circumstances, reaffirming India’s commitment to lasting peace.
