Bhopal, April 26: Madhya Pradesh’s Director General of Police (DGP) Kailash Makwana emphasized the need for robust arrangements during a video conference with district police chiefs. He instructed them to ensure a peaceful, fair, and secure conduct of the National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test (NEET-UG) 2026, scheduled for May 3.
During the state-level review meeting, Makwana highlighted the sensitivity of this examination, which significantly impacts the futures of millions of students. He stated that NEET is a crucial test linked to students’ careers, necessitating that every process be error-free, transparent, and secure. He urged officials to adopt a ‘zero-tolerance’ approach towards any lapses.
Makwana directed that all examination centers, strong rooms, and testing rooms undergo physical inspections beforehand, with enhanced security measures implemented. To ensure thorough checks of candidates, adequate police deployment and the mandatory use of handheld metal detectors (HHMDs) at entry and exit points were also mandated.
He stressed the importance of closely monitoring the movement of question papers. Police escorts must accompany the transportation between banks, post offices, strong rooms, and examination centers, with vehicle tracking via dash cams along designated routes.
Continuous monitoring will be maintained until the safe return of OMR sheets and other examination materials post-exam. Highlighting potential risks, Makwana ordered heightened vigilance in sensitive areas, including the Chambal region and bordering districts, to prevent paper leaks or organized cheating attempts. He also stated that unauthorized access to examination centers would be strictly prohibited.
Additionally, he instructed immediate action against misinformation or rumors spreading on social media platforms. Cyber commandos and a cyber cell will be deployed to monitor digital platforms and detect suspicious activities.
Additional Director General of Police A. Sai Manohar noted that improvements have been made based on lessons learned from events in 2024, with a focus on center-level security and mandatory CCTV coverage at all 283 centers.
Deputy Inspector General Tarun Nayak reported that the exam will be conducted across 30 cities for approximately 118,000 candidates, with the highest number of centers established in Indore.
Authorities confirmed that 38 trained cyber commandos will be deployed for network monitoring, and strict legal action, including FIRs, will be taken against anyone involved in paper leaks, impersonation, or organized cheating.
