Raipur, August 1: A wave of grief has swept through Bundeli village in Chhattisgarh following the tragic death of laborer Deepak Ratre in a terrorist attack in Kulgam district, Jammu and Kashmir. The incident occurred late Friday evening, where Deepak, originally from Bundeli village in Sakti district, was shot dead by terrorists.
Witnesses reported that the assailants first questioned the workers about their identities before opening fire. Deepak succumbed to his injuries at the scene.
Deepak had been living with his uncle in Hardidih (Jaijaipur) since childhood, where he also got married. About a year ago, he moved to Jammu and Kashmir in search of work, accompanied by his wife and brother, and had been employed at a brick kiln.
Upon receiving news of the attack, local authorities sprang into action. Following the late-night report, the Sakti Superintendent of Police dispatched a team to inform Deepak’s family of the tragic news.
As the news of Deepak’s death reached Bundeli village, an atmosphere of mourning enveloped the area. Family members were inconsolable, and the community expressed deep sorrow. The administration is currently coordinating the process to bring Deepak’s body back to Sakti. Local representatives and villagers have called for support for the grieving family.
In a related incident, two other laborers at the brick kiln were seriously injured in the attack. Both were admitted to the Government Medical College Hospital in Anantnag. While Deepak Ratre (24) did not survive, doctors referred the critically injured Bopinder (28) for specialized treatment at SKIMS, where he also passed away on Saturday morning.
