Tehran, August 1: Mohammad Bagher Ghalibaf, the Speaker of the Iranian Parliament and chief negotiator for the ceasefire group, has asserted that Iran has won the war. He emphasized that the primary challenge now is to maintain this victory and strengthen the nation.
According to a report by the semi-official Tasnim News Agency, Ghalibaf made these remarks during a session of the Iranian Parliament Coordination Council. He stated that while Iran has “won the war,” it is crucial to ensure long-term stability.
“We must build a powerful Iran, starting with reinforcing the authority and decision-making power of the Supreme Leader. The nation should aspire for a better future and move forward,” he said.
Earlier, Ghalibaf condemned a recent U.S. attack on his X account. He criticized the U.S. assault on civilian homes on Qeshm Island, labeling it as part of American crimes in the southern Iranian cities of Minab and Lamerd.
He remarked, “The U.S. is involved in a new crime every day. The attack on civilian homes on Qeshm Island is just a continuation of its offenses in Minab and Lamerd.”
Ghalibaf also warned, “They will have to pay for this.” On Thursday, the U.S. conducted missile strikes in several locations in southern Iran, including Qeshm Island and parts of Bushehr, Fars, and Khuzestan provinces.
Meanwhile, Mohammad Baqer Jolqaadr, the Secretary of the Iranian National Security Council, cautioned that if the U.S. does not change its approach, it could lead to further closures of the Strait of Hormuz and potentially other critical maritime routes. Jolqaadr criticized Washington’s illegal naval blockade imposed on the country.
