Kolkata, August 1: West Bengal Minister Dilip Ghosh condemned the recent terrorist attack in Kulgam district of Jammu and Kashmir. Speaking to the media on Saturday, he asserted that the BJP government has consistently taken action against terrorists and will completely eradicate them in the coming days.
Ghosh remarked, “Isolated incidents still occur, but terrorism is gradually diminishing. Maoist terrorism, which once affected regions like the Jangalmahal in West Bengal, as well as parts of Andhra Pradesh, Chhattisgarh, Odisha, and Maharashtra, is nearly eradicated. However, some terrorists remain hidden in difficult and remote areas like Kashmir. They occasionally engage in such activities, but the government will now deal with them firmly.”
Regarding the arrest of a terrorist in Bardhaman, he stated, “Bardhaman has a notorious history. Everyone knows about the Khagragarh incident, where a major bomb blast occurred nearly 15 years ago. That was a different era, which has passed. Nevertheless, there are still places in the country where terrorist networks exist, attempting to involve people in such activities. The lives of leaders and ministers are also at risk, but the BJP government will never allow the terrorists’ plans to succeed and will uproot them.”
On the recent reduction in commercial gas prices, Ghosh explained, “Gas and petroleum prices are not entirely under our control. Various global issues, including wars, affect them. Prices fluctuate; when fuel prices rise by 100 rupees, people take to the streets as if the world is ending. Now that the price of commercial LPG cylinders has decreased by 200 rupees, at least thank the Prime Minister. He deserves that respect. We have a Prime Minister who cares for every citizen of the country.”
Condemning the derogatory remarks made about Prime Minister Modi during student protests, Ghosh stated, “This protest, named after ‘cockroaches,’ is exactly what its name suggests. Teenagers were brought to the streets and treated poorly. Their values have been tarnished, and today their parents feel ashamed. The children themselves admit they made a mistake and that what they did was wrong. Those who incited them should be held accountable to prevent such movements from discrediting India in the future.”
Addressing the issue of the stone and sand mafia, he said, “The Tulu Mandal case is not isolated. There are thousands of leaders and businessmen in West Bengal who have amassed millions with the help of the TMC. Take Birbhum, one of the state’s poorest districts, where powerful mafia figures possess assets worth hundreds of crores. They have built bridges and roads for their benefit, but now with the BJP government in West Bengal, strict action will be taken against such mafias.”
On the West Bengal government’s initiative to issue pink cards for women, he noted, “The government and our party promised special benefits for women in our election manifesto. A card will be issued to women, which will serve as their bus travel ticket, allowing them to travel for free.”
Commenting on the protests in Parliament regarding the Ram Mandir donation theft, Ghosh remarked on MP Pappu Yadav wearing saffron clothes, saying, “What else do they have to do besides acting? Let them perform their drama.”
