Abu Dhabi, August 1: The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has expressed its support for the agreement regarding the disarmament of Hamas and other armed groups in Gaza. The UAE has termed this a significant step towards ending the conflict. The announcement was made by U.S. President Donald Trump following a meeting of the Board of Peace.
The UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs released a statement through the official news agency WAM, highlighting that this agreement represents “a crucial advancement towards ending the conflict, enhancing security and stability, and creating the necessary conditions for a political process leading to lasting peace.”
The Ministry expressed hope that the agreement, which includes a phased disarmament of Hamas and other armed groups, the parallel withdrawal of Israeli forces, the deployment of an international stabilization force, and the establishment of a new Palestinian police force, will strengthen security and stability.
The statement emphasized that this initiative would also help alleviate the suffering of civilians, end violence, and create an environment conducive to the reconstruction of Gaza.
During the meeting held on Thursday, President Trump claimed that a historic agreement had been reached regarding the complete disarmament of Hamas and the phased withdrawal of Israeli forces from the Gaza Strip. According to Trump, the agreement will be implemented in phases within 14 days of formal approval from all parties involved. Hamas has also agreed to the deal, although it has stated that certain conditions must be met by Israel.
Under the agreement, Hamas will hand over all its weapons to an international stabilization force in a phased manner. This force, consisting of approximately 5,000 members, will be monitored by an American general.
According to Trump, this move is essential for achieving permanent peace and security in the Palestinian territories. This announcement comes several months after a ceasefire agreement mediated by the U.S. between Hamas and Israel.
