The IMD has predicted heavy rainfall and thunderstorms with wind speeds of 30–50 km/h across the northeastern states through May 21. Affected states include:

  • Tripura

  • Mizoram

These areas could witness localized flooding, waterlogging, and travel delays, especially in low-lying regions.

Jammu & Kashmir, Ladakh, Gilgit-Baltistan, and Muzaffarabad are also expected to receive moderate to heavy rainfall till May 21, along with thunderstorms and wind speeds up to 50 km/h.

Himachal Pradesh and Uttarakhand may witness rain and lightning activity in higher altitudes, with chances of temporary road blockages due to falling debris.

In eastern India, Chhattisgarh, Jharkhand, Odisha, Bihar, West Bengal, and Sikkim are under a heavy rain alert.
