Modi Receives Grand Welcome in Malaysia, Strengthening Ties

Kuala Lumpur, February 8: Prime Minister Narendra Modi received a grand welcome in Putrajaya, Malaysia, on Sunday. He shared moments from this royal reception, highlighting the growing friendship between India and Malaysia.

In a post on the social media platform X, PM Modi wrote, “Moments from the welcome in Putrajaya. India and Malaysia are deepening their partnership based on trust, friendship, and shared aspirations.”

PM Modi is on a two-day visit to Malaysia, during which he will hold high-level meetings. He previously mentioned the cultural ties between the two nations, particularly the role of the Tamil community in Malaysia. In another post, he noted, “Students from the Malaysian Hindu Sangam recited Thirumurais devotional songs. It is commendable that the Tamil community in Malaysia has preserved and popularized its heritage over the years.” This initiative reflects the deep civilizational and people-to-people connections between the two countries.

During his visit, PM Modi announced the upcoming opening of an Indian consulate in Malaysia, which will strengthen bilateral diplomatic relations and provide better services to the Indian community residing there. This announcement came after he participated in a grand welcome ceremony in Kuala Lumpur, which saw extensive participation from the Indian community.

The event featured 800 artists performing traditional Indian dances, marking the largest performance recorded in Malaysian history.

While addressing the gathering, PM Modi thanked the community members and praised Malaysian Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim. He acknowledged the significant role of the Indian diaspora in Malaysia’s progress and prosperity, appreciating their contribution to strengthening the friendship between the two nations.

PM Modi reiterated India’s commitment to the welfare of Indian citizens in Malaysia and to further enhancing bilateral relations. After arriving in Malaysia, he traveled with Prime Minister Anwar Ibrahim in a car, which sparked discussions about the chemistry between the two leaders.
