Diplomats from 25 Countries Celebrate International Yoga Day in Rishikesh

Rishikesh, June 21: On the occasion of International Yoga Day, Parmarth Niketan in Rishikesh, Uttarakhand, hosted yoga sessions attended by participants from around the world. Swami Chidanand Saraswati, the president of Parmarth Niketan, praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for transforming yoga into a global movement that has reached every corner of the world.

In an interview, Swami Chidanand Saraswati stated, “Yoga is an invaluable heritage of India’s ancient sages, practiced for thousands of years. Prime Minister Modi has brought this legacy from the Himalayan caves and meditation sites into the daily lives of people.”

He further noted, “At the United Nations, Prime Minister Modi was the first to raise the topic of yoga, establishing its significance on a global platform. Today, people worldwide are embracing yoga to lead healthier lives.”

Swami Chidanand Saraswati emphasized that yoga is not merely physical exercise; it is an art of living. Yoga provides a healthy body, a peaceful mind, and a balanced life. It transforms life into a celebration and fills individuals with positive energy. He believes that regular yoga practice can not only keep people healthy but also help them stay away from mental stress.

This year, over 25 ambassadors, high commissioners, and senior officials from various countries participated in the Yoga Day program at Parmarth Niketan. Witnessing people from different nations practicing yoga together on the banks of the Ganges is a testament to yoga’s role as a unifying force worldwide. The event saw enthusiastic participation from individuals of all ages, including children, youth, and the elderly.

Swami Chidanand Saraswati also delivered a message on environmental conservation. He stated that alongside serving the nation, protecting the Earth and nature is a collective responsibility. He urged everyone to keep rivers clean and pollution-free, supporting Prime Minister Modi’s ‘One Tree for Mother’ campaign. He encouraged individuals to plant at least one tree for a secure future for the coming generations.

A foreign female participant remarked that International Yoga Day sends a message that yoga is for everyone. She praised Prime Minister Modi, stating that yoga has become a global identity, providing health, peace, and balance to people.
