International Yoga Day: Greetings from Israel and Other Nations to India

Jerusalem, June 21: On the occasion of International Yoga Day, Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar extended warm wishes to India’s External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar and the people of India. He emphasized that yoga enhances social connections, promotes good health, and equips individuals to handle challenging situations.

Sa’ar took to the social media platform ‘X’ to express, “Heartfelt wishes to Foreign Minister Dr. S. Jaishankar and the people of India on International Yoga Day. Originating from India, yoga is now embraced worldwide. It promotes qualities such as peace, health, and strength, bringing people and nations closer together. Best wishes to our Indian friends on this special day.”

This year marks the 12th International Yoga Day, with the theme ‘Yoga for Healthy Aging’. The aim is to highlight the benefits of yoga for individuals of all ages.

According to the United Nations, yoga can be a beneficial practice as people age, helping them remain active, self-reliant, and live better lives. Yoga incorporates gentle exercises, stretching, breathing techniques, and meditation, which can improve balance, flexibility, strength, and mobility while also reducing stress and enhancing mental health.

Earlier in the day, the Israeli Embassy in India shared a video on ‘X’, featuring Israeli Ambassador Reuven Azar and other officials practicing yoga.

In the post, the Israeli Embassy stated, “Happy International Yoga Day! Some came to practice yoga, others came for food, but in the end, everyone found their balance.”

On this occasion, Foreign Minister S. Jaishankar also practiced yoga in New Delhi, celebrating the 12th International Yoga Day.

He wrote on ‘X’, “Celebrated International Yoga Day with diplomats in New Delhi. As Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said, we should strive to make yoga a part of our lives, our families, and future generations.”

The event was attended by Foreign Secretary Vikram Misri, Norway’s Ambassador to India, Elin Steener, and many others who participated in yoga.

Ambassador Elin Steener released a video message on ‘X’, extending greetings for International Yoga Day.

She wrote, “Greetings to India from Norway on Yoga Day. This day celebrates health, good living, and balance. What is your favorite pose?”

In her video message, she added, “Happy International Yoga Day to India from Norway! Thank you to the Indian Ministry of External Affairs and Dr. S. Jaishankar for sharing this beautiful gift with the world.”
