New Delhi, June 10: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has achieved a historic milestone as he completes the longest tenure of any Prime Minister in India. On this significant occasion, Modi stated that public service is the ultimate measure of good governance.
In a post on the social media platform ‘X’ on Wednesday, PM Modi expressed, “Public service is the greatest criterion for good governance. Only those who work with humility, dedication, and a sense of duty earn the trust of the people.”
Additionally, Modi shared a ‘Sanskriti Subhashitam’ which reads, “Sadanuraktaprakritih Prajapalana-tatparah. Vinitaatma hi Nripati-bhuyasi Shriyama-shnute.”
The meaning of ‘Sanskriti Subhashitam’ is, “A representative who considers service as their duty and continuously works for the public good ensures the safety and welfare of the people through good governance. By focusing on development with humility and restraint, they are truly the ones who attain public trust, fame, and prosperity.”
Notably, this marks Modi’s third consecutive term as Prime Minister. He has set a record by serving for 4,399 days, surpassing the previous record held by former Prime Minister Jawaharlal Nehru. Nehru’s tenure, which began in 1952, is often referenced since he led the interim government from 1947 to 1952 before the first general elections.
While former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi served for over 14 years, her terms were not consecutive. Thus, Modi has become the longest-serving elected Prime Minister in the nation’s history, having taken office for the first time in 2014, re-elected in 2019, and achieving a historic third mandate in 2024.
Currently, PM Modi is receiving congratulations and well-wishes from both domestic and international leaders for becoming the longest-serving elected Prime Minister in India’s history.
