New Delhi, August 27: Dr. Neelam Lekhi, President of the Delhi Medical Association, has expressed concern over the rising cases of the H1N1 virus in the capital. Speaking to a news agency on Wednesday, she noted that the Delhi Medical Association is the largest body of medical practitioners and allopathic doctors in the region.
The recent surge of the influenza (H1N1) virus in Delhi-NCR has raised health concerns among the population. In response, the association issued a message on Wednesday aimed at increasing public awareness and prevention measures.
Dr. Lekhi advised that the virus spreads through respiratory droplets. She recommended wearing masks in public places and maintaining hand hygiene. People should use tissues or handkerchiefs when sneezing or coughing and change them regularly. Until the situation stabilizes, she urged individuals to avoid crowded areas unless absolutely necessary.
Additionally, she emphasized the importance of hygiene for those working closely with the public. Individuals showing any symptoms of H1N1 should consult a doctor. Patients are advised to stay hydrated, get adequate rest, consume home-cooked meals, and maintain respiratory hygiene.
Dr. Lekhi also suggested maintaining a distance of at least two arms’ length when conversing with others. Those experiencing symptoms such as cough, cold, fever, sore throat, stomach issues, headaches, or body aches should get tested.
She reassured the public that there is no need to panic regarding the H1N1 virus, but emphasized the importance of being aware and taking necessary precautions for one’s health.
