New Delhi, June 10: The National Democratic Alliance (NDA) is set to hold a significant meeting today in New Delhi, commemorating 12 years of its government at the center.
The meeting will take place at Bharat Mandapam and will be attended by Prime Minister Modi, senior BJP leaders, and Chief Ministers and Deputy Chief Ministers from all 22 NDA-ruled states and Union Territories, along with leaders from allied parties.
Sources indicate that during this meeting, the NDA may pass a resolution congratulating Prime Minister Modi for surpassing the record of India’s first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, marking a historic achievement.
On June 10, PM Modi broke Nehru’s record of 4,399 days in office as an elected Prime Minister. This comparison is based on Nehru’s tenure starting in 1952, as he was the head of the interim government from 1947 to 1952 before the first general elections.
While former Prime Minister Indira Gandhi served for over 14 years, her tenure was not continuous. Consequently, Modi has become the longest-serving elected Prime Minister in India’s history.
The event is expected to see participation from several senior central ministers and key NDA leaders, including Rajnath Singh, Amit Shah, BJP President Nitin Nabin, and Shivraj Singh Chouhan.
This meeting is crucial as it celebrates the NDA government’s 12-year milestone. Discussions are anticipated to focus on the coalition’s achievements, future policy priorities, and the political roadmap ahead. Key topics may include governance initiatives, development programs, and preparations for upcoming electoral challenges.
This gathering holds additional political significance as it is the first major meeting of the NDA following the establishment of a BJP government in West Bengal and the retention of power in Assam. Moreover, it comes just before several state assembly elections scheduled for next year.
The NDA meeting follows a recent gathering of the opposition INDIA alliance, where leaders strategized and reached consensus on electoral reforms, education, and economic issues.
