Mithun Chakraborty Critiques Mamata Banerjee Over Dhurandhar 2 Controversy

Kolkata, April 1: Renowned director Aditya Dhar’s film ‘Dhurandhar 2 – The Revenge’ is performing exceptionally well at the box office. However, some critics are labeling it as propaganda. Amidst this backdrop, veteran actor and BJP leader Mithun Chakraborty shared his views on the film, targeting West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee for her inconsistent stance on films.

In an interview, Chakraborty questioned, “You did not allow ‘The Bengal Files’ to release; what could be more significant than that? Now you are calling ‘Dhurandhar’ propaganda. If you believed this film was wrong, why didn’t you stop it?”

He accused the Trinamool Congress (TMC) of opposing ‘The Bengal Files’ without even viewing it. Chakraborty stated, “You haven’t seen a single reel of ‘The Bengal Files’, yet you protested against it from the start and prevented its release. This is extremely unfortunate.”

He also highlighted the success of ‘Dhurandhar 2’, noting, “This film has broken several records, which means people are coming to watch it. Audiences don’t make a film a hit without reason.”

Following Chakraborty’s remarks, discussions have intensified in both the film and political arenas. While some support his statements, critics argue that it is merely political rhetoric.

As for the film’s plot, ‘Dhurandhar 2’ tells the story of a young man, Jaskirat Singh, whose life changes dramatically after a traumatic event. After facing injustice with his family, he steps into the world of crime fueled by a desire for revenge. This incident becomes the turning point of his life.

Later, Jaskirat gets an opportunity to serve his country as an undercover agent named Hamza Ali Mazari in Pakistan. The narrative escalates into a major mission and a dangerous game.

The second part of the film particularly revolves around the power struggles and gang wars in Karachi’s Lyari area. Following the death of the notorious gangster Rahman, the power vacuum attracts various forces vying for control. Hamza navigates this treacherous landscape with cunning and strategy, striving to get closer to his true mission.
