Mira Andreeva Advances to French Open Semifinals with Dominant Victory

Paris, June 2: Nineteen-year-old Mira Andreeva has reached the semifinals of the French Open for the second time in her career. On Tuesday, she defeated Romania’s Sorana Cirstea with a score of 6-0, 6-3 in a match held at the Philippe Chatrier court at Roland Garros. The match lasted just 56 minutes.

Two years after her first Grand Slam semifinal appearance, this young player has solidified her presence on the WTA Tour by easily securing a spot in the top four.

From the start of the match, Andreeva established her dominance. The Russian player lost only 9 points in the first six games, giving Cirstea no game points at all. Andreeva claimed the first set in just 22 minutes.

In the second set of her second Grand Slam quarterfinal, Cirstea finally got on the scoreboard. She managed to stay even with Andreeva for the first six games. However, Andreeva quickly regained control, winning the next three games without dropping a point, sealing her victory at 6-0, 6-3.

During the match, Andreeva hit 18 winners, while Cirstea made 20 errors. Andreeva committed only 6 unforced errors, whereas Cirstea managed just 4 winners but made 17 errors. Additionally, Andreeva capitalized on all six break points she created.

With this victory, Andreeva now holds a 2-0 career head-to-head record against Cirstea. She has become the player with the most wins on the WTA Tour this season, totaling 34 victories. This marks her 20th win on clay courts this year.

In her next match, Andreeva will face the winner of the match between seventh seed Elina Svitolina and fifteenth seed Marta Kostyuk. Andreeva has a 1-1 career record against Svitolina, but she lost their first encounter this season. Furthermore, she has never defeated Kostyuk, having faced defeat against the Ukrainian player on two occasions in 2026.
