Mehbooba Mufti Accuses NC Government of Using Bulldozer Tactics Against PDP Workers

Srinagar, August 25: Former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir and PDP leader Mehbooba Mufti has launched a strong attack on the National Conference (NC) government. She alleged that the government, which was elected in opposition to bulldozer actions, is now using these tactics against PDP workers.

In a post on the social media platform X, Mehbooba wrote, “The government chosen to oppose bulldozers is now using them as a weapon against PDP workers. Despite legal formalities being completed, the government machinery is being used vindictively against Bashir Mir’s hotel in Sonamarg. This reveals the priorities of the Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister and the shameless misuse of power by his OSD and local leaders, who are also engaged in construction work there.”

Mehbooba’s comments were directed at actions taken against PDP leader Bashir Mir’s hotel in Sonamarg. The PDP claims that Bashir Mir had complied with all legal requirements, yet the administration proceeded with actions against his hotel.

She stated that these actions are being taken out of spite. Tagging Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, she emphasized that this clearly shows the priorities of his government. She accused the Chief Minister’s OSD and local NC leaders of conducting construction work without facing any repercussions, while PDP workers are being targeted.

Mehbooba highlighted that the people of Jammu and Kashmir voted for the National Conference to end the bulldozer regime, but now the same government is employing these tactics against opposition workers.

Sonamarg is a major tourist destination in Jammu and Kashmir, where the administration has recently intensified actions against illegal construction. The administration argues that these actions are necessary to protect the environment and curb uncontrolled construction, while the PDP claims it is a case of political vendetta.
