Lucknow, August 27: Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) leader Mayawati has raised concerns regarding the Uttar Pradesh government’s announcement to provide one lakh government jobs to youth within the next six months. She suggested that this declaration appears to be more of an electoral strategy. Mayawati emphasized that these appointments must be free from issues like paper leaks and corruption to avoid being perceived as mere electoral gimmicks.
On Thursday morning, Mayawati took to the social media platform ‘X’ to express her views, stating, “The announcement by the Uttar Pradesh government to provide one lakh government jobs in the next six months (i.e., before the assembly elections) seems to be a delayed but primarily electoral move.”
She further added, “If these appointments can be completed in a timely manner, free from the curses of paper leaks and corruption, it would be appropriate to ensure that this does not turn out to be an electoral farce. Additionally, people are eagerly awaiting government announcements regarding the backlog of reserved positions for SC, ST, and OBC communities.”
Mayawati also addressed the plight of protesting candidates. She noted, “Currently, 6,800 candidates from these categories are continuously protesting for their appointments in the 69,000 teacher recruitment process concerning reservation rules. The government must consider their situation with empathy, as only the government can provide them with real relief.”
Moreover, she reiterated the BSP’s ongoing demand for significant improvements in the deteriorating state of school education across Uttar Pradesh and the entire country. She mentioned that there has been some unwelcome movement at the government level due to the pressures from ‘Gen Z’ and ‘Gen Alpha.’ While this is a minor step, it would be appropriate if it is done with genuine intent to improve school education. In this context, nearly 30,000 government schools have been shut down. The government should promptly arrange for their effective reactivation for the public good.
Mayawati also responded to the Uttar Pradesh government’s initiative for free bus travel for elderly women. She stated, “The arrangement for free travel for elderly women in buses is far less significant than the need for governments to work with genuine intent and policy to protect women from exploitation, oppression, and abuse in all areas, as well as to ensure their safety, respect, and self-reliance.”
