New Delhi, May 2: Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu expressed his delight on Saturday regarding the positive outcomes of the ‘Matsya Sagarmala’ program, designed to provide light to fishermen heading towards the coast in the dead of night.
The minister inaugurated the ‘Matsya Sagarmala’ program in the village of Erramukkom in the Sompeta Mandal.
On the social media platform X, Naidu stated, “In the Srikakulam parliamentary constituency, 1,594 solar lights have been installed along the coastal road with funding from Coal India’s CSR initiative. Today, we formally inaugurated these lights.”
The solar lights of the Matsya Sagarmala program are enhancing safety for fishermen, promoting tourism, and guiding boats during fishing hours.
Naidu further assured, “We have promised them that the coalition government will always stand by their upliftment.”
He added, “Srikakulam is truly blessed with untouched beaches and natural beauty. Enjoy our special Uddanam coconut water to escape the heat. We invite everyone to explore and discover the hidden gems of this pristine coastal paradise.”
Meanwhile, the central government’s Sagarmala program, launched in March 2015, is a flagship initiative of the Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways aimed at revolutionizing India’s maritime sector.
With a coastline of 7,500 kilometers, 14,500 kilometers of potential navigable waterways, and a strategic position along major global trade routes, India holds immense potential for port-based economic development.
The Sagarmala initiative aims to streamline logistics by shifting from traditional, infrastructure-dependent transport to an efficient coastal and waterway network, reducing costs and enhancing international trade competitiveness.
This program focuses on port modernization, industrial development, job creation, and sustainable coastal growth, maximizing economic impact while ensuring minimal infrastructure investment.
