Dehradun, September 1: Uttarakhand Chief Minister Pushkar Singh Dhami paid homage to the martyrs of the Khatima shooting incident at the martyr memorial in Khatima on Tuesday, marking the anniversary of this tragic event. The shooting is a painful chapter in Uttarakhand’s history that can never be forgotten, as it redirected the movement for statehood.
The Chief Minister stated that the government has provided a 10% horizontal reservation in government jobs for the state movement activists and their dependents. Additionally, pensions for these activists and their families have been increased. He emphasized that the government is committed to realizing the dreams and aspirations of the martyrs by building a strong, prosperous, and new Uttarakhand.
During a conversation with the media, CM Dhami expressed that today is an emotional day for everyone as they pay heartfelt tributes to those who sacrificed their lives for the state’s formation. He honored all the martyrs, reminding everyone of the struggle and sacrifice that led to the establishment of the new state. This day is dedicated to remembering the brave sons and activists who envisioned a separate Uttarakhand and set aside their personal attachments to make that dream a reality. He expressed his respect for all contributors to the Uttarakhand state movement, both known and unknown.
After inaugurating the City Park (Oxygen Park), CM Dhami remarked that this park will be a milestone for Khatima, providing a pleasant space for locals, tourists, and women to relax and spend time.
