Marble Trader Suicide

Udaipur, October 14 (Daily Kiran): A marble trader in Udaipur died by suicide after consuming poison inside his factory, police said on Tuesday. The man left a suicide note in which he blamed five individuals for high-interest loans and wrote that he had been unable to repay mounting debts.

The note, submitted to police, named Amarjeet Singh Kanda, Aman Kanda, Jatin Kanda, Sanat Siklikar and Titu Sardar. It said, “Very many efforts but failed. I apologise to everyone.” The trader further wrote that he had borrowed money from family, friends and acquaintances and was unable to repay them, adding that he had been sinking in debt for the last five years.

In the note, the deceased accused the five named persons of charging interest far above the principal and continuing to “peck” at him for repayment. He quoted their interest rates as 7.50% to 18%, and said penalties on delays were “exorbitant.” The note also stated, “I wanted to kill them and then die,” the man wrote, adding that those people were “mostly responsible” for his decision.

The incident occurred in the Sukher police station area. Police said they have registered a case and are investigating the matter, with the suicide note being a key piece of evidence. No further details about the deceased’s identity were released by officials at the time of the report.
