Kolkata, March 20: Ahead of the 2026 West Bengal Assembly elections, the Trinamool Congress (TMC) has released its manifesto. Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee has outlined ten key promises aimed at sustaining development during her potential fourth term.
In a post on the social media platform X, CM Banerjee stated, “I humbly present my 10 promises for Bengal, ensuring that the wheel of development continues to move forward during my government’s fourth term.”
The first promise involves an increase in monthly financial assistance under the ‘Lakshmi Bhandar’ scheme for women. General category women will receive ₹1,500 (₹18,000 annually), while SC/ST beneficiaries will get ₹1,700 (₹20,400 annually), reflecting a ₹500 increase. This initiative focuses on empowering women economically.
Another significant promise is the continuation of the ‘Banglar Yuva-Sathi’ scheme, which provides unemployed youth with monthly assistance of ₹1,500 (₹18,000 annually). This aims to tackle the issue of youth unemployment.
For farmers, Banerjee has pledged to create a ₹30,000 crore agricultural budget. This will ensure ongoing support for farming families, assistance for landless farmers, and overall enhancement of the agricultural sector.
The manifesto also includes a commitment to provide every family with a permanent house and ensure piped drinking water access in all homes. Health services will be expanded through ‘Dware Chikitsa’ camps in every block and city, bringing medical facilities closer to the people. In education, the ‘Banglar Shikshayatan’ initiative will focus on upgrading infrastructure in all government schools.
To boost economic development, Bengal will be positioned as the trade gateway to Eastern India, featuring world-class logistics, ports, commercial infrastructure, and a state-of-the-art ‘Global Trade Center.’
For senior citizens, uninterrupted pension benefits will be ensured, gradually extending to all eligible individuals. The manifesto also promises the establishment of seven new districts and an increase in the number of urban local bodies as part of administrative reforms.
Mamata Banerjee emphasized that these ten promises will form the foundation of her governance and serve as a clear action plan for the next five years. The TMC’s manifesto is centered on welfare schemes, focusing on women, youth, and farmers, along with the expansion of basic infrastructure, which is a key component of the party’s electoral strategy.
