Hyderabad, September 9 (Daily Kiran) : The Telangana government has ordered a thorough investigation into the events that unfolded at the assembly entrance on Monday. These incidents included alleged derogatory remarks against the assembly speaker and clashes between lawmakers from the Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) and police.
Chief Minister K. Chandrashekar Rao (KCR) announced the inquiry, stating that the incidents were part of a conspiracy orchestrated by the BRS. He emphasized that strict action would be taken against not only those who plotted the disturbances but also all individuals involved.
The Chief Minister asserted that anyone found guilty under the Scheduled Castes and Scheduled Tribes (Prevention of Atrocities) Act would face penalties, regardless of their position or influence. Criminal cases will be registered, and offenders will be prosecuted.
KCR expressed strong support for Assembly Speaker Gaddam Prasad Kumar, urging him to remain steadfast during this challenging time. He highlighted that two BRS members of the Legislative Council had recently been granted bail, but he stressed that the people of Telangana would not accept such actions from powerful individuals.
Accusing KCR of inciting his party’s members against Dalit leaders and the assembly speaker, the Chief Minister stated that disrespect towards the speaker was an affront to the entire state. He noted that the BRS lawmakers had insulted not just an individual but also the core values of motherhood and society.
“Our society reveres women as symbols of strength. We refer to our country as Bharat Mata and our state as Telangana Talli. The opposition lawmakers spoke in a manner intended to hurt the speaker,” KCR remarked.
He expressed disappointment that KCR did not apologize to the assembly speaker or encourage his lawmakers to do so, which could have facilitated smoother proceedings in the house. Instead, BRS legislators became more aggressive.
In response to the unrest, members of the Dalit community held a peaceful protest march to KCR’s farmhouse, beating drums to voice their dissent. The Chief Minister noted that the demonstrators did not resort to violence and questioned why KCR did not engage with them to address their concerns. He urged KCR to act responsibly and communicate with representatives.
