Mamata Banerjee Criticizes Center Over Pakistan Ministers Threat

Kolkata, April 6: West Bengal Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee launched a sharp attack on Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Monday, accusing him of deliberately remaining silent regarding the threat made by Pakistan’s Defense Minister Khawaja Asif concerning Kolkata.

Speaking at an election rally in Nadia district, the Chief Minister questioned how a Pakistani minister could target a major Indian city. She raised concerns about the Prime Minister’s lack of response during his visit to Cooch Behar for an election meeting on Sunday, despite the seriousness of the issue.

Banerjee stated, “How can a Pakistani minister talk about attacking Kolkata? Why hasn’t the Prime Minister said anything about it? Couldn’t he have promised strict action? Why has he remained silent? Why has there been no action against Pakistan so far?”

She further emphasized that it is also worth investigating who prompted such a statement from the Pakistani minister. The Chief Minister demanded a thorough inquiry into the matter, making it clear that any threat to Kolkata would not be tolerated under any circumstances.

In light of the upcoming assembly elections, Banerjee advised party workers to remain vigilant on counting day. She warned that misleading news might circulate in the early hours of counting, attempting to show that BJP candidates are leading in most seats.

She urged her workers, “In the morning, they will create an atmosphere suggesting their candidates are ahead, but do not be disheartened. Wait until the end; victory will be ours. Do not leave until the counting is complete.”

During her address, the Chief Minister also targeted the Director General of the Border Security Force (BSF), Praveen Kumar, stating that the frisking of women is unacceptable. She encouraged people to vote first and then follow other procedures.

Banerjee also advised that if any Electronic Voting Machine (EVM) malfunctions, it should be replaced immediately rather than repaired.

She made a special appeal to women to step out on voting day and to protest if any genuine voters are obstructed from reaching polling stations.

Additionally, the Chief Minister made serious allegations, claiming that money and drugs are being brought into West Bengal from other states ahead of the assembly elections. She asserted that she has solid evidence and will release videos of this at the appropriate time.
