Chennai, April 9: The political landscape in Tamil Nadu is heating up ahead of the assembly elections scheduled for April 23. BJP spokesperson A.N.S. Prasad has claimed that the NDA, led by AIADMK and BJP, could secure more than 200 seats in the 234-member assembly.
Prasad stated that the NDA, which includes AIADMK, BJP, PMK, AMMK, Tamil Maanila Congress, and other allied parties, is on track for a decisive victory. They are set to compete against the ruling DMK-Congress coalition.
He noted that while actor Vijay’s party, Tamilga Vetrikazhagam (TVK), and Seeman’s Naam Tamilar Katchi (NTK) are also contesting, the real contest is between the NDA and the DMK alliance.
The BJP spokesperson urged voters to unite in favor of the NDA if they desire change. He emphasized that votes for smaller parties would not effectively defeat the DMK.
Prasad claimed that early trends and opinion polls indicate a growing discontent against Chief Minister M.K. Stalin’s DMK government. He accused the state government of corruption, administrative inefficiency, and nepotism.
He also pointed out that the DMK’s reliance on several smaller parties reflects its internal instability. Additionally, he raised concerns about alleged corruption in urban administration and delays in public services.
According to Prasad, the NDA is campaigning on issues of development, better governance, and transparency, positioning itself as the alternative to the DMK.
As the nomination process concludes and the final list of candidates is released, the political contest in Tamil Nadu is becoming increasingly intriguing.
