New Delhi, April 9: Amid the ongoing assembly elections in Assam, Kerala, and Puducherry, Congress leaders have made strong claims about their impending victory, asserting that public sentiment is in their favor.
In Ernakulam, Congress leader and the Leader of the Opposition in the state, VD Satheesan, expressed his firm belief that the United Democratic Front (UDF) will return to power by winning more than 100 seats. He stated, “I have been saying this from the beginning. Over the past three months, I have toured the entire state four times, and I have a good sense of the trends.”
Similarly, senior Congress leader Ramesh Chennithala in Alappuzha shared his confidence. He remarked, “We are fully confident that we will win over 100 seats and form the government in Kerala. The people are fed up with the current government and are ready to bid farewell to Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan. We will provide an effective and better government for the people of Kerala.”
In Kalaburagi, Karnataka, Minister Priyank Kharge made significant claims regarding Kerala, Karnataka’s by-elections, and Assam. He stated, “Especially in Kerala, Congress will emerge with a majority in the two by-elections in Karnataka and in Assam as well. We have a clear plan and blueprint for the development of Kerala and Assam. Our guarantee schemes in Karnataka have been effective, leading to social and economic empowerment of the people. Therefore, Davanagere and Bagalkot will also be with us.”
In Lucknow, Congress spokesperson Surendra Rajput described the elections as a grand festival of democracy. He said, “Today is an important celebration of democracy, and we believe that democracy will prevail. We expect the Election Commission to conduct fair, free, and transparent elections to strengthen its image.”
He emphasized that there should be no room for complaints during the elections, and issues like SIR should not recur. Surendra Rajput claimed that the public in Kerala, Puducherry, and Assam will decisively defeat the BJP, sending a clear message to the central government that its time is up.
