Mallika Prasad on ‘Amma’ in Mardani 3: Villains Aren’t Born, Society Makes Them

Mumbai, February 2: Actress Mallika Prasad, who plays the villainous role of ‘Amma’ in the recently released film ‘Mardani 3’, spoke about the deeper message behind her character. She emphasized that villains are not born evil but are shaped by society and its systems.

Talking about her role, Mallika said that ‘Amma’ represents the violence rooted in corrupt and oppressive structures rather than physical aggression. “Villains are not born; society and its behavior shape them. Amma’s character reflects this systemic violence,” she explained.

She described ‘Amma’ as a product of a cruel and corrupt system that quietly encourages oppression and violence. “It is a violence that follows the gutter rules. Here, moral decay is so deep that dangerous and harmful acts appear normal,” Mallika added.

Interestingly, Mallika pointed out that her character never engages in direct physical violence on screen, but her actions lead to widespread violence. “This shows that violence in society is not just about punches and kicks but also about misuse of power and systems. This is the challenge I wanted to highlight through the film,” she said.

‘Mardani 3’ is the third installment in the Mardani franchise, revolving around Rani Mukerji’s character Shivani Shivaji Roy. The film exposes harsh social realities and brings important issues to the forefront through cinema.

The cast also includes actress Janki Bodiwala, known for her role in ‘Shaitan’. The script is written by Ayush Gupta, who has previously worked on ‘The Railway Men’. The first Mardani film was released in 2014, followed by the second in 2019, directed by Gopi.
