
Gandhinagar, March 6: In a significant administrative shake-up, the Gujarat government, led by Chief Minister Bhupendra Patel, has transferred 37 IPS officers. The state’s Home Department has issued an official notification regarding these changes.
According to the Gujarat government, these transfers and postings have been implemented with immediate effect, keeping public interest in mind. This major reshuffle has seen new officers assigned to several key ranges and departments, while others who have been awaiting postings have also received new assignments. Notably, Ahmedabad will now operate with eight zones instead of seven, as an additional zone has been created to streamline police operations in the city.
The most crucial appointment in this reshuffle is that of Ashok Kumar Yadav, who has been named the new Chief of the State Intelligence Bureau (SIB) in Gujarat. His leadership is expected to strengthen the state’s intelligence framework. The Home Department has also made changes among the heads of various police ranges.
As per the issued orders, IPS officer Shamsher Singh (1991 batch), who had been awaiting posting, has been appointed as the Director of Civil Security and Commandant General of Home Guards in Ahmedabad. Meanwhile, IPS Ashok Kumar (2003 batch), previously serving as Inspector General of Police in the Rajkot range, has been transferred to Gandhinagar as Additional Director General of Police, CID Intelligence.
Additionally, IPS Gagandeep Gambhir (2004 batch), who was serving as Inspector General of Police (Administration) in Gandhinagar, has been given additional charge as Inspector General of the State Surveillance Cell in Gandhinagar. IPS Gautam M. Parmar (2004 batch), formerly the IG of Bhavnagar range, has been appointed as Inspector General of Police in CID.
Furthermore, IPS Raghavendra Vats (2005 batch), who was working as Joint Police Commissioner (Crime) in Surat city, has been appointed as the new Inspector General of Police for the Ahmedabad range. IPS Nilesh Bhikhabhai Jajadia (2006 batch), previously the IG of Junagadh range, has been assigned as Joint Police Commissioner (Sector-2, Crime and Law & Order) in Vadodara city. Dr. Leena Patil (2010 batch) has been appointed as the new Inspector General of Police for the Junagadh range.
This significant administrative reshuffle by the state government is viewed as a crucial step towards making the police system more effective and robust.
