New Delhi, February 28: The Anti-Auto Theft Squad (AATS) of Dwarka District Police achieved a significant success by arresting an active associate of the Black Jathedi-Om Prakash gang, along with illegal weapons. The arrested individual, identified as Manish alias Mishu (19 years old) from Jharoda Kalan, Delhi, was apprehended near Dwarka Nala Road, close to Metro Pillar Number P-9 in Hari Vihar.
According to police reports, two semi-automatic country-made pistols and five live cartridges were recovered from the accused. It is believed that he was planning to execute a major crime, but the police intervened in time to thwart a potential target killing.
Under the directives of the Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) for Dwarka, the AATS team was tasked with cracking down on organized criminal gangs and illegal arms supply networks in the area. They were specifically instructed to gather actionable intelligence related to the supply of illegal weapons in Dwarka and its surroundings. Continuous monitoring, informant networks, and technical inputs were employed to keep an eye on suspicious activities. During this operation, Head Constable Ghanshyam received credible information that Manish alias Mishu, linked to the Black Jathedi-Om Prakash alias Kala Jharodiya gang, was roaming the area with illegal firearms and preparing for an attack on a target.
Acting swiftly on the tip-off, the AATS team devised a strategy and set up a trap at the specified location. They successfully surrounded and apprehended the accused at the scene. Upon searching him, the team seized two advanced semi-automatic pistols and five live cartridges. Police officials noted that the condition of the recovered weapons indicated that the accused intended to commit a serious crime. A case has been registered under relevant sections of the Arms Act at Dwarka North Police Station.
During interrogation, the accused made several significant revelations. He disclosed that approximately 16-17 days prior, he had purchased three pistols and around ten live cartridges. One of these weapons is currently with a companion, who is from Rohtak, Haryana, and is presently at large. The accused also admitted that these firearms were sourced from an interstate illegal arms supplier operating in Khargone district, Madhya Pradesh.
Investigations revealed that the accused had previously been arrested under the Arms Act. He was recently detained in January 2026 for another case. During his time in jail, he re-established contact with gang members and was prepared to work as a shooter for the gang upon his release.
Intelligence inputs indicate that the gang was preparing to carry out a targeted killing, which has now been successfully thwarted under the ongoing ‘No Guns, No Gangs’ campaign. Efforts are also underway to apprehend co-accused individuals and completely dismantle the interstate illegal arms supply chain.
