
New Delhi, March 29: The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has achieved a significant breakthrough by dismantling an interstate racket involved in the buying and selling of stolen mobile phones. The operation led to the recovery of 83 stolen mobile phones from various premium brands, along with the arrest of two suspects.
This operation was conducted under the close supervision of senior officials, led by Inspector Ashish Sharma, Sub-Inspector Ranjit Singh, and Head Constable Saurabh.
On March 27, acting on specific and reliable intelligence gathered by Inspector Ashish Sharma regarding the activities of an interstate gang operating from Yamuna Vihar, the Crime Branch team sprang into action. After thorough verification and briefing, the team arrived at the scene in Yamuna Vihar, New Delhi. Despite the sensitive location and the risk of crowds gathering, the officers maintained a professional demeanor and executed a careful raid on the third floor of a rented premises.
During the search, police recovered a sealed cardboard box containing 83 stolen mobile phones from various premium brands. Many of these phones were linked to specific theft cases reported at different police stations. Immediate checks of the IMEI numbers through the CEIR portal confirmed that the entire haul was indeed stolen.
The two suspects present at the scene were caught red-handed. They were reportedly actively packing the shipment to be sent to Bangladesh via West Bengal. Upon interrogation, the suspects revealed that they purchased stolen mobile phones from an individual named Danish and sent them to acquaintances in Bangladesh via courier.
The suspects have been identified as Sawez (34 years old), son of Sajid, a resident of Ghaziabad, and Fardeen (25 years old), son of Rajiv Nagar, Bhalswa Dairy. Sawez has a criminal history, with four cases registered against him at Sahibabad police station. Both suspects have been formally arrested and presented with all necessary documents to the CJM (East), KKD Court, Delhi, and have been remanded to judicial custody.
The Crime Branch team is rapidly working to uncover the entire network of this interstate gang. Officials state that the Delhi Police is fully committed to preventing the illegal trade of stolen gadgets and ensuring the protection of public property through continuous, intelligence-based operations.
