DGP Rajeev Sharma Holds Range-Level Review Meeting in Dungarpur
Jaipur, 25 August (Kiran News). To ensure strong law and order and bring transparency in policing across the state, the Rajasthan Police Department is fully in action mode as per the vision of Chief Minister Mr. Bhajanlal Sharma. Director General of Police (DGP) Mr. Rajeev Kumar Sharma has started range-level review meetings across the state. After the first meeting in Bharatpur last week, an important review meeting of the Udaipur Range was held on Monday at the Dungarpur Police Line auditorium. The marathon meeting lasted nearly 8 hours, covering law and order, crime control, quality of policing, cyber crime, action on pending criminal cases, special operations, implementation of new criminal laws, and other important subjects.

Action Against False Cases
DGP Mr. Sharma said that in recent years, many cases registered under serious sections in the state have turned out to be false. Such cases waste police time and damage the state’s image. He directed that the police must investigate every case honestly and without prejudice, taking swift action if charges are found to be true. If any case is found to be false, immediate action should be taken against the person concerned as per rules.
Review of Illegal Liquor Seizure Actions
He instructed officers to act vigilantly against the illegal liquor trade coming from Haryana and Punjab, keep an eye on chemical suppliers, and initiate property attachment proceedings against offenders. He asked for a list of seizure actions in 2024-25 liquor cases, and directed that the mechanism of liquor smuggling be reviewed at the local level, with findings to be submitted to the IG within seven days.
Instructions to Reduce Road Accidents
DGP Mr. Sharma called the loss of life in road accidents extremely tragic and stressed the need for concrete efforts to reduce such incidents. All district police superintendents were directed to identify black spots in their areas and ensure no repeat accidents occur at these sites. He suggested installing reflectors, trimming bushes, and marking zebra crossings to minimise accidents. Udaipur SP Yogesh Goyal’s efforts on highways were described as exemplary, and further instructions were given to control overloading, overspeeding, and take strict action against drink and drive cases.
Monitoring Criminals
DGP Sharma instructed strict monitoring of hardcore criminals, history-sheeters, and previously caught or identified offenders to prevent repeat crimes. He made it clear that if any criminal, after being released from jail or acquitted, commits another crime, the responsible police officers will be held accountable. All station officers were directed to maintain close watch on such criminals.
Focus on Cyber Crime
He also instructed speedy action under the IT Act and in cyber crime cases. DGP Sharma reviewed the functioning of cyber desks established in every district and the relief provided to the public. He ordered that at least three people in each district receive proper training to tackle cyber crime effectively.
Appreciation for Dungarpur SP
Dungarpur SP Manish Kumar shared innovations like ‘Operation Sanskar‘ for public awareness using reels and social media, which DGP Sharma praised as exemplary.
Other Key Topics Reviewed
The DGP gave directions on pending court cases, asking that responses sent to courts must be accurate, factual, prompt, and of high quality. He also reviewed law and order, property and bodily offences, fingerprint evidence, serious unsolved cases, crimes against women, POCSO Act, Excise Act, NDPS Act, illegal firearms, and other subjects, instructing timely resolution and effective use of new criminal laws and forensic evidence. Arrest of wanted criminals and preventive actions were also emphasised.
The meeting, held at Dungarpur Police Line auditorium, was attended by IG Udaipur Range Mr. Gaurav Srivastava, DIG (Personnel) and DGP’s Principal Staff Officer Mr. Kunwar Rashtradeep, as well as SPs, ASPs, DySPs, and SHOs of Udaipur, Chittorgarh, Rajsamand, Banswara, Pratapgarh, and Dungarpur districts.
Prior to the meeting, DGP Mr. Sharma was given a guard of honour on arrival, with Dungarpur SP Manish Kumar welcoming him.
