Major Fake UNO Minda Switch Racket Uncovered in New Delhi, Three Arrested

New Delhi, May 23: The Crime Branch of Delhi Police has made a significant breakthrough in combating the illegal trade of counterfeit products in the auto parts sector. The ARSC team seized 10,650 fake UNO Minda switches from three wholesale shops in Karol Bagh, leading to the arrest of three individuals.

According to the Crime Branch, the accused imported inexpensive foreign-made on/off switches and fraudulently labeled them with the prestigious UNO Minda trademark, selling them as genuine products in the market. This scheme allowed them to reap substantial profits.

On May 19, 2026, under the supervision of ACP Sanjay Kumar Nagpal, Inspector Robin Tyagi’s team received credible information. They conducted a raid in collaboration with legal representatives from UNO Minda.

During the operation, police recovered a total of 10,650 counterfeit UNO Minda switches. The haul included 8,500 switches from Malhotra Enterprises, 650 from Kanak Auto Spares, and 1,500 from Pari Enterprises. The arrested individuals include Rajesh Malhotra (proprietor of Malhotra Enterprises), Som Bhutani (proprietor of Kanak Auto Spares), and Kamal Raswant (proprietor of Pari Enterprises).

The trio has been active in the wholesale auto parts business for the past 15-20 years. During questioning, they admitted to importing cheap switches from abroad and branding them as genuine UNO Minda products.

An FIR numbered 133/2026 was registered at the Crime Branch station on May 20, 2026. The accused face charges under sections 318(4) and 336(3) of the BNS and section 63 of the Copyright Act.

Officials from the Crime Branch indicated that this racket is not confined to Karol Bagh alone. Ongoing investigations aim to uncover the entire network, supply chain, and other accomplices involved. All seized switches were imported from abroad.

Delhi Police has intensified its campaign against counterfeit and duplicate products. Such items not only harm branded companies but also pose safety risks to consumers, particularly concerning auto parts.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Sanjeev Kumar Yadav commended the team, stating that strict measures will be enforced against the trade of counterfeit goods.
