
New Delhi, March 8: The Delhi Crime Branch has uncovered a significant racket involved in the production and sale of counterfeit protein supplements in the capital and the NCR region. Two suspects have been arrested in connection with this case. According to police, the accused were manufacturing fake protein supplements under the names of well-known brands, which posed serious health risks to consumers.
Police reported that an FIR was filed on March 7 at the Crime Branch station under various sections of the Indian Penal Code and the Copyright Act of 1957. The suspects have been identified as Mohit Tiwari and Mohit Dixit, both residents of the Brahmapuri area in Delhi.
The operation was led by Inspector Ram Pal from the Crime Branch team based in RK Puram. The team included Sub-Inspector Amit, Pramod, Mukesh Singh, Assistant Sub-Inspector Ramdas, Ankit, Ombir, Sanjay Amit, Head Constable Dharmendra, Yashpal, Gaurav, and Constable Tejpal.
Police received a tip-off about an illegal factory operating in the Brahmapuri area that was producing fake protein supplements. Acting on this information, the Crime Branch team monitored the area and arrested both suspects. During interrogation, the accused confessed to their crime and led police to their illegal manufacturing unit.
During the search, police seized a large quantity of counterfeit protein supplements, packaging materials, and raw materials. Approximately 100 kilograms of finished fake protein and around 55 kilograms of raw materials were confiscated. Additionally, several containers labeled with famous brand names, hologram stickers, packaging pouches, plastic jars, flavoring agents, mixing machines, and electronic weighing scales were recovered.
According to police, the suspects used names of renowned brands like Optimum Nutrition, Syntha-6, and Isopure to produce fake supplements, which were supplied to gyms and markets. Consumers faced a serious risk of health issues from using these products.
Preliminary investigations also revealed that another individual named Anil Biswas was involved in the racket, managing the supply chain and raw materials. Police are now working to track down the entire network and other accomplices involved in this operation.
