Major Drug Bust in Poonch: Heroin Trafficker Arrested

Poonch, June 6: In a significant operation against drug trafficking and substance abuse, Poonch police have achieved another important success. A man was arrested in the Surankote area while in possession of a substance resembling heroin. Authorities state that this action will strengthen efforts to curb drug trafficking in the region.

According to police, a team from the Surankote police station was conducting routine patrols and checks in the Mohra Wala Naka area. During this time, officers noticed a suspicious individual approaching on foot. Upon seeing the police, the man appeared nervous and attempted to flee. Suspecting his behavior, the police immediately pursued him and apprehended him a short distance away.

Upon searching the arrested individual, approximately 4.23 grams of a suspicious substance resembling heroin was recovered. Following the seizure, the police took the accused into custody and initiated further legal proceedings. The arrested individual has been identified as Safeer Ahmed, the son of Naseer Ahmed, and a resident of Samot village in Surankote tehsil.

Police have registered a case against the accused under various sections of narcotics-related laws.

Officials report that a First Information Report (FIR) has been filed, and a detailed investigation has commenced. Investigative agencies are working to determine the source of the seized substance, identify those involved, and ascertain its intended distribution. The police are also probing potential trafficking networks and the roles of other related individuals.

Poonch police reiterated that their crackdown on drug trafficking will continue, and strict action will be taken against those involved in such activities. They have urged the public to report any suspicious activities related to drugs immediately, to aid in efforts to rid society of the scourge of substance abuse.
