Major Drug Bust in Mumbai: Anti-Narcotics Cell Arrests Suspect with ₹7.69 Crore Worth of Drugs

Mumbai, April 7: The Anti-Narcotics Cell (ANC) of Mumbai Police has achieved a significant breakthrough in its ongoing campaign against drugs. During an operation in the Ville Parle area, authorities arrested a drug trafficker and seized 7.6 kilograms of hydroponic cannabis, valued at approximately ₹7.69 crore in the international market.

According to reports, a special operation was launched across Mumbai to dismantle the drug trafficking network. As part of this initiative, the ANC’s Worli unit was on patrol when they noticed a young man standing with a trolley bag on Firoz Shah Mehta Road in Ville Parle East. Upon spotting the police vehicle, he appeared nervous and attempted to flee. The police team, suspecting his behavior, promptly stopped him.

During questioning, the suspect identified himself as Adnan Nasir Khan, a 24-year-old resident of Mira Road, originally from Senasic. Under intense interrogation, he admitted that the bag contained hydroponic cannabis intended for sale. A search of the trolley bag revealed the cannabis packed in a white plastic bag. This type of cannabis is cultivated using advanced techniques and is significantly more expensive than regular cannabis. The police sealed and confiscated the drugs on-site.

Additionally, a mobile phone and a passport were recovered from the suspect, which have been seized for further investigation. A case has been registered at Ville Parle police station under Section 20(B) of the NDPS Act, among other charges. Authorities are now investigating the source of the drugs and the intended recipient. Officials suspect that a larger drug syndicate may be operating behind this case. Notably, Mumbai Police have seized drugs worth ₹38 crore in the past two months alone.
