Major Drug Bust in Madhya Pradesh: Over ₹1.5 Crore Seized

Bhopal, April 14: In a significant crackdown on illegal drug trafficking, Madhya Pradesh police have seized narcotics worth approximately ₹1.5 crore. This operation has also led to multiple arrests. The largest action in the state took place in Vidisha district.

Under Operation Clean Sweep, Vidisha police effectively targeted an organized interstate drug syndicate, arresting 13 suspects. During the operation, authorities confiscated a total of 92.01 grams of brown sugar, valued at around ₹9.15 lakh, along with four vehicles (a Mercedes, Swift Desire, Maruti Ertiga, and Suzuki Access) and cash totaling over ₹1 crore.

Investigations revealed that the syndicate operated on four levels. They reportedly purchased brown sugar from Rajasthan and sold it in the city. The gang attempted to evade police by using digital payment methods like PhonePe and employing “dead drop” techniques for contactless delivery.

Similarly, a joint team from the Jabalpur Crime Branch and Khitola police arrested three suspects in another operation against illegal narcotics. The suspects were found in possession of 20 kilograms of illegal marijuana, valued at approximately ₹10 lakh, two mobile phones, ₹700 in cash, and a tanker truck.

Legal actions are underway against the accused under the NDPS Act. The Indore Crime Branch also made a significant arrest, apprehending one individual with 57.73 grams of MD drugs, valued at around ₹6 lakh, along with a mobile phone. Additionally, the Sadar Bazaar police arrested another suspect during a routine check, seizing 12.74 grams of MD drugs worth several lakhs.
