Hyderabad, April 26: The Central Industrial Security Force (CISF) achieved a significant success at Hyderabad Airport in Telangana. Acting on suspicious activities, the CISF’s CIW team apprehended an international traveler preparing to fly to Kuala Lumpur. They seized foreign currency valued at approximately 3.1 million rupees.
The team noticed irregular behavior from the passenger, prompting them to stop him for an inspection. During the X-BIS screening, suspicious images emerged from his bag. A thorough search revealed foreign currency amounting to around 3.1 million rupees. The CISF promptly handed over the passenger and the seized currency to the customs department for further investigation and legal proceedings.
On Sunday, CISF shared the incident on their official social media account, stating, “Based on suspicious behavior and profiling, the CISF CIW team at Hyderabad Airport stopped an international traveler heading to Kuala Lumpur. The passenger was taken for X-BIS screening, where suspicious images were detected during the baggage check. A detailed investigation led to the recovery of foreign currency equivalent to approximately 3.1 million rupees from the passenger’s hand baggage. The passenger and the seized currency were handed over to customs officials for necessary action as per SOP.”
This is not the first such incident. On April 22, 2026, the same CISF team apprehended another traveler at Hyderabad Airport who was en route to Dubai. Suspicion arose from the passenger’s behavior, leading to a screening. During the investigation, foreign currency including US dollars, UAE dirhams, and Saudi riyals was recovered, valued at around 962,000 rupees.
