Navi Mumbai, August 31: The Food Department conducted a significant raid in the Turbhe MIDC area of Navi Mumbai, targeting a company named Sadhana Enterprises. During the operation, the team seized a total of 4,942 cartons of goods, valued at approximately ₹75.21 lakh.
The investigation revealed around ₹30,000 worth of products lacking essential labeling or past their expiration dates. Following this action, legal proceedings have commenced against the company.
The Food Department has filed a case against the owner of Sadhana Enterprises and their partners at the Turbhe MIDC police station, and their license has been revoked.
It was discovered that the company was involved in large-scale tampering with food packaging. The operation included repackaging and relabeling items, altering the original manufacturing and expiration dates. The integrity of ingredient information was also compromised. Allegations suggest that after this tampering, the company resupplied products such as potato chips, corn snacks, Kurkure, instant noodles, ready-to-eat paneer tikka, dum aloo, paneer bhurji, dal makhani, mayonnaise, and cold drinks like Thums Up and Link.
The Food Department issued a stern warning, stating that strict action will be taken against those who compromise public health. They emphasized the rigorous enforcement of all regulations to safeguard citizens’ health. The department urged the public to report any negligence or tampering that threatens health.
