Major Breakthrough for Ranchi Police: PLFI Leader Amrit Horo Arrested with ₹10 Lakh Reward

Ranchi, May 28: The Ranchi police have achieved a significant milestone by arresting Amrit Horo, the leader of the banned militant organization PLFI (People’s Liberation Front of India). Horo has long posed a challenge to law and order in the region. The Jharkhand government had announced a reward of ₹10 lakh for information leading to his capture. His arrest is considered a major setback for the PLFI organization.

According to police sources, Senior Superintendent of Police Rakesh Ranjan received a tip-off that Amrit Horo was attending a wedding ceremony in Jamakel village, located near the Ranchi-Khunti border. Horo is a resident of this village.

Based on this information, a special team comprising the Quick Response Team (QRT) and other police forces was formed. The area was cordoned off, and late at night, a planned operation led to Horo’s arrest.

Reports indicate that Amrit Horo had been evading police for a long time, frequently changing his hideouts while remaining active in the border areas of Ranchi and Khunti. The police have placed him in a secure location for interrogation, aiming to gather information about his network, associates, and the organization’s activities. The Khunti police will also conduct questioning.

Horo faces multiple serious charges, including extortion, collection of levies from construction sites and railway projects, arson, firing, and police encounters in Ranchi, Khunti, and surrounding districts.

According to police records, he has been involved in militant activities for several years and is regarded as a top commander of the organization. About a year and a half ago, security forces had an encounter with Horo, but he managed to escape by taking advantage of the forest and hilly terrain.

Police officials state that his arrest will significantly impact the PLFI’s network and financial operations. Currently, they are interrogating him to gather information about other active members of the organization and the locations of their weapons.
