
New Delhi, June 8: The vigilant patrol staff of Jama Masjid Police Station has successfully arrested a suspect in possession of two stolen mobile phones. These devices are linked to two separate theft cases. The suspect has a prior record involving robbery and murder. Authorities are continuing their investigation to uncover any additional criminal activities he may be involved in.
The incident occurred on June 6, when head constable Vijay and constable Sumit, along with constable Vinesh, were conducting routine patrols in the Meena Bazaar area of Jama Masjid. They noticed a known habitual offender behaving suspiciously. Upon seeing the police team, the suspect attempted to flee the scene. Sensing something was amiss, the alert patrol staff quickly apprehended him. During a thorough questioning and search, two mobile phones were recovered from his possession.
During the interrogation, the suspect failed to provide any proof of legal ownership for the recovered devices. The police team promptly checked the devices against their database and discovered that both phones were reported stolen under e-FIR numbers 80047019/2026 and 80047012/2026 at Jama Masjid.
This information was immediately relayed to the Jama Masjid Police Station, leading to the suspect’s arrest and the confiscation of the stolen mobile phones in accordance with the law.
To maintain a close watch on criminal elements and prevent street crimes, police personnel were specifically deployed for patrolling and surveillance under the leadership of Inspector Aadesh Prakash, SHO of Jama Masjid Police Station, and supervision of ACP Dheeraj Narang from Daryaganj.
During their checks and monitoring, the alert police team observed the suspect’s suspicious activities and acted swiftly to apprehend him. Thanks to their vigilance, proactive policing, and effective presence in the area, the two stolen mobile phones were recovered, and the suspect was arrested, helping to prevent further criminal activities in the vicinity.
The arrested individual has been identified as Arshad, a resident of Chandni Mahal, Delhi. During ongoing questioning, he revealed that he had stolen the recovered mobile phones by taking advantage of the crowd and chaos at the Sunday market.
