New Delhi, July 23: Amidst the NEET paper leak controversy and student protests, the central government has offered to hold a detailed discussion in Parliament on the matter. Union Minister and Leader of the House in Rajya Sabha, JP Nadda, addressed a press conference on Wednesday, stating that the government is fully prepared to discuss serious issues like the paper leak. He appealed to the opposition to refrain from repeatedly changing their demands and conditions, urging them to seek solutions through positive dialogue in Parliament.
Nadda emphasized, “The government wants a discussion in Parliament regarding the paper leak issue. The duration of the discussion can be determined by the opposition and the Business Advisory Committee. If the opposition wishes, they can discuss for 12 or 18 hours, and the government is ready for that.”
He added, “Parliament is the most suitable platform to consider all aspects of such serious issues. The future of students is tied to the future of the country, and it is the responsibility of both the government and the opposition to work together to find a solution.”
The Union Minister remarked, “The children are ours, yours, and the future of the nation. It is our responsibility to care about the future of the country.” He urged the opposition to fulfill its responsibilities and move beyond accusations towards finding a permanent solution.
Regarding the NEET protests, Nadda stated, “Students’ demands should not be politicized. The opposition is attempting to gain political mileage from the students’ issues. The paper leak is a serious problem that should be resolved collectively.”
Responding to Rahul Gandhi‘s presentation in Parliament, Nadda said, “This is a matter for investigation. Incidents of paper leaks have not been confined to just one state or one government.” He mentioned several states, including Jammu and Kashmir, Himachal Pradesh, Jharkhand, Telangana, Tamil Nadu, Punjab, Kerala, and Karnataka, where paper leak incidents have occurred.
He questioned Rahul Gandhi, stating, “The opposition should not selectively raise only a few cases. If the opposition is genuinely concerned about students’ interests, it should discuss incidents from all states and governments. This issue needs to be viewed beyond politics. Numerous paper leak cases have emerged during previous administrations. There should be a discussion in Parliament on this serious issue, free from accusations.”
Regarding the protests by the CJP, he noted that discussions had taken place in a cordial atmosphere, and any written concerns would be considered. He also mentioned his meeting with Sonam Wangchuk, stating that he had checked on his well-being and received a letter from him.
In response to demands for the resignation of the Union Minister, Nadda asserted that such issues should not be raised in this manner. The government is ready for debate in Parliament, and solutions should be sought through discussion.
