New Delhi, June 16: The South District Police achieved a significant success in curbing incidents of theft and motorcycle theft by arresting two notorious thieves. The Chittaranjan Park police apprehended the suspects based on an analysis of CCTV footage and local intelligence. Authorities recovered two stolen motorcycles, another bike used in the crime, and various stolen household items from their possession.
In response to the rising incidents of vehicle theft and home burglaries in the area, Inspector Anish Sharma, in charge of the Chittaranjan Park police station, formed special teams under the supervision of the ACP. This operation was executed by ASI Dalveer Singh, Head Constable Roshan, and Head Constable Girraj.
During the investigation, police collected and thoroughly analyzed CCTV footage from the crime scenes and surrounding areas. The footage revealed two suspects fleeing after committing the theft. Police then matched the footage with the criminals’ previous records and dossiers, while also providing local informants with images and information about the suspects.
Based on technical surveillance and confidential information, police identified both suspects and arrested them in the South Puri area of Ambedkar Nagar. The arrested individuals were identified as Uday Kumar, also known as Alien (24), and Saurav Kumar (24). Uday Kumar had no prior criminal record, while Saurav Kumar had a previous case registered at the Saket police station for theft.
The investigation revealed that the suspects typically targeted unattended motorcycles and valuable items left in homes. After stealing, they attempted to hide or sell the goods to evade police capture.
Following the suspects’ identification, police recovered two stolen motorcycles, one motorcycle used in the crime, a blood pressure monitoring machine, and two silver-plated bathroom taps. This operation has led to the resolution of two cases of motorcycle theft and burglary registered at the Chittaranjan Park police station.
South District Police Deputy Commissioner (DCP) Anant Mittal stated that timely action, effective analysis of CCTV footage, and better coordination among police teams contributed to this success. He added that investigations are ongoing to determine the suspects’ involvement in other cases.
