New Delhi, August 8: In a significant development regarding the shooting incident outside the Charkhi Dadri police station in Haryana, police have arrested the main accused, Rohit Katiya, following an encounter. Superintendent of Police Logesh Kumar has suspended six police officers from the Quick Response Team (QRT) for negligence while stationed at the main gate of the court complex.
DSP Dheeraj Kumar informed reporters that the police received a tip-off indicating that the suspects involved in the shooting were traveling along the Bound-Kalanour link road. Acting on this information, the police team set up a blockade and began checking vehicles. During this operation, they signaled a white car to stop.
According to police reports, as soon as the accused exited the vehicle, he opened fire on the police team. One bullet struck the bumper of a police vehicle. The police warned the suspect to surrender, but he fired again. In response, the police returned fire, injuring the suspect in the leg. He was apprehended at the scene, and an illegal firearm was recovered from him. The injured suspect was subsequently taken to the hospital. The Forensic Science Laboratory (FSL) team and the Crime Scene Investigation team collected evidence from the site.
The initial shooting incident resulted in seven injuries. The DSP noted that six of the injured individuals have criminal records. Amit from Fatehgarh has 21 cases registered against him, including murder charges. Vijay, also known as Sunny, has six cases, while Ankit, son of Satbir, has five. Krishna, Kirtiman, and Surajmal each have one criminal case filed against them. Notably, Ankit, son of Suresh, has no criminal record.
The shooting occurred approximately 50 meters from the police station, just after exiting the court complex. The QRT team is responsible for security in and around the court area. Due to this negligence, the SP suspended the six officers stationed at the main gate. The police are actively pursuing the arrest of other suspects involved in the incident. Officials have made it clear that strict action will continue against those who disrupt law and order.
