New Delhi, August 8: In the national capital, New Delhi, robust security measures are in place along the routes of the Kanwar Yatra. The police, traffic police, CRPF, and volunteers from the Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) are deployed to ensure safety and smooth traffic flow.
Anmol Dubey, co-district minister of the VHP, spoke to a news agency, stating, “The VHP and Bajrang Dal are responsible for the security of the camps. Our two to three volunteers stay on duty throughout the night at various camps across the Yamuna. As you may have observed before, different kinds of people come here, leading to misunderstandings. Therefore, to prevent any tarnishing of the Hindu community’s image and to ensure that no harm or disrespect comes to the Kanwar camps due to ill-intentioned elements, our volunteers are dedicated to this task.”
Regarding the inspection of the Kanwar camps by Chief Minister Rekha Gupta, Dubey noted that since the government change in Delhi, the atmosphere has improved. “Earlier, people roamed around empty-handed. Last year, there was a shower of flowers, and this year, we will also have a floral shower. Previously, the Delhi police had never conducted a floral shower, but last year they did, and VHP volunteers were also present. A floral shower will take place here on Saturday as well.”
On the closure of meat shops during the Kanwar Yatra, he mentioned, “Most shops are closed during the Yatra. We have set up a camp near Maujpur Chowk, where many meat shops were located. Now, they are closed for the duration of the Kanwar Yatra.”
Dubey also praised the cooperation from the administration regarding the Yatra. He mentioned that a meeting took place between the Delhi police and Uttar Pradesh police concerning the Yatra, and now they are receiving support from the Uttar Pradesh police as well. The police administration is also vigilant near the Kanwar camps in Delhi.
