Major Accident on Maharashtras Samruddhi Highway Leaves 20 Injured

Washim, June 3: A significant road accident occurred on the Samruddhi Highway in Washim district, Maharashtra, late Tuesday night. A passenger bus operated by Sanjay Travels collided with a truck near Channel Number 223. The impact was severe, resulting in injuries to approximately 20 passengers. The bus driver and cleaner are among four individuals reported to be in critical condition.

According to reports, there were a total of 34 passengers on board the bus at the time of the accident. Initial investigations suggest that the driver lost control of the vehicle, leading to the collision with the truck. Following the crash, chaos erupted inside the bus, with passengers screaming for help. Local residents and administrative teams quickly arrived at the scene after receiving news of the incident.

Rescue operations commenced immediately, with injured passengers being extricated from the bus and transported to a private hospital in Washim. Medical treatment for all injured individuals is ongoing, and the condition of those critically injured is being closely monitored. Meanwhile, police have inspected the accident site and initiated an investigation into the causes of the crash.

Earlier, on June 1, a major accident occurred on the Mumbai-Pune Expressway when a container overturned and collided with another truck, resulting in the deaths of two truck occupants. This incident caused significant traffic disruptions for several hours.

Similarly, on May 28, a chemical tanker met with an accident on the Mumbai-Goa Highway at Parshuram Ghat, leading to the driver’s death. The tanker was en route to Goa when the brakes failed at a dangerous curve, causing the driver to lose control and the vehicle to overturn.

On May 24, another serious accident took place in Washim district when a tanker carrying diesel lost control while heading towards Wardha district. The incident was so severe that the driver became trapped under the tanker cabin, and the continuous diesel leak posed a risk of explosion at the site.
