Jaipur, October 16 (Daily Kiran): Kota Police have arrested four members of a Maharashtra-based gang accused of cheating elderly women and unsuspecting citizens by luring them with cash offers. Each accused carried a reward of ₹10,000 on their arrest.Maharashtra Gang

Under the directions of Kota City Superintendent of Police Tejaswini Gautam, Kishorpura Police Station successfully cracked the case, detaining the accused identified as Dilip Shankar Koli (40) from Hingoli, Maharashtra, and Shivaji Bapurao Koli (35), Santosh Vitthal Kale (30), and Avinash Yadav Kale (25), all residents of Parbhani, Maharashtra.

Modus Operandi: Targeting Elderly Women
SP Gautam said the gang operated in a well-organized manner. Two members would first survey local areas to identify elderly or solitary women who could be easily deceived. The suspects would then approach victims under false pretenses.

In an incident on October 11, the gang targeted 70-year-old Jagnathi Bai, telling her that women who recently had sons were being given ₹2,000 as a government benefit. They convinced her to accompany them to a secluded spot. Once there, they asked her to remove her jewellery, saying she would not get the money otherwise. The woman handed over her gold mangalsutra and silver chain, after which the men fled, promising to return shortly.

Police Action and Arrests
Following the complaint, a special team led by Station House Officer Bhuri Singh was formed. With the help of informers and technical surveillance, the team traced the suspects based on their physical descriptions and movement patterns.

After a sustained search operation, police successfully arrested all four accused, who had been absconding since the incident. Investigators are now interrogating them to recover stolen valuables and identify other gang members involved in similar crimes.

Constables Ashok (Kishorpura Police Station), Kartar, and Chhotu Lal (Gumanpura Police Station) played a key role in the arrests.
