Madhya Pradesh Cabinet Approves Additional Funds for Indore Metro Project

Bhopal, June 16: In a significant cabinet meeting chaired by Madhya Pradesh Chief Minister Mohan Yadav, several crucial decisions were made on Tuesday aimed at enhancing the state’s development, public welfare, and infrastructure.

A major decision was taken regarding the Indore Metro Rail project. Due to a revised route, some underground sections, and rising costs over time, the cabinet approved an additional allocation of ₹5,388 crores. This brings the total project cost to approximately ₹12,889 crores. The 31-kilometer metro line is expected to be fully operational by 2030-31.

The government also announced the establishment of a Cyber Security Center in Bhopal. This initiative aims to ensure citizen safety through awareness programs, training, and modern technological infrastructure.

To facilitate smooth administration, the deadline for the employee transfer portal has been extended by one day until midnight.

The cabinet approved the continuation of projects worth ₹24,200 crores, which include Project Tiger, labor welfare schemes, ₹687 crores for tribal student education, and ₹639 crores to promote sericulture. These initiatives aim to boost agriculture, industry, and employment.

In the health sector, a new initiative was approved for the operation of 18 community health centers (with over 20 beds) under a PPP model. This pilot project will be implemented in Rewa, Dewas, and Guna districts. Private operators will provide expert doctors and trained staff, while the state government will supply medicines and retain ownership of the hospitals.

Additionally, the government approved a new policy to promote the establishment of super-specialty hospitals through charitable trusts, religious organizations, and CSR funds. The government will provide land and capital grants to ensure better healthcare services in smaller districts. A five-member ministerial committee will prepare guidelines for this initiative.

During the meeting, the Chief Minister congratulated Prime Minister Narendra Modi on completing 12 years and 4,399 days in office. He also mentioned the recent NITI Aayog meeting, where Madhya Pradesh received special recognition for becoming naxal-free ahead of schedule.

The cabinet acknowledged the state’s welfare schemes, particularly Ayushman Bharat, and praised the rapid industrialization taking place. Recent achievements of the state on a national level were also noted.
