Prime Minister Modi Arrives in France for G7 Summit, Emphasizing Global Cooperation

Evian, June 16: Prime Minister Narendra Modi has arrived in Evian, France, to participate in the G7 Summit. French President Emmanuel Macron officially inaugurated the 52nd G7 Summit on Monday.

Upon arrival, PM Modi shared his excitement on the social media platform X, expressing eagerness to meet global leaders and exchange views on significant international issues. He stated, “India is committed to advancing collective global efforts for a more sustainable and prosperous future.”

The Prime Minister traveled to Evian via Geneva from Slovakia. As he landed in Geneva, he was welcomed by Swiss President Guy Parmelin. PM Modi noted on X, “I met with the President of Switzerland at the airport, and we had a fruitful conversation.”

The Ministry of External Affairs shared photos showing the warm greetings exchanged between the two leaders, reaffirming their commitment to strengthening bilateral relations.

The G7 Summit is taking place in the resort town of Évian-les-Bains, where leaders from the world’s major developed economies and invited partner countries discuss global economic, political, and environmental challenges. The three-day summit commenced with the arrival of former U.S. President Donald Trump.

Following him, several world leaders arrived, including German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, British PM Keir Starmer, Canadian PM Mark Carney, and Japan’s PM Sanae Takaichi. Discussions are expected to cover significant issues, including the U.S.-Iran peace deal, global security, and economic matters.

It is noteworthy that PM Modi’s visit to France marks the final leg of his current tour of European nations. Prior to this, he completed a two-day visit to Slovakia, which he described as a strengthening of bilateral relations.
