Kolkata, April 5: The Left Front, led by CPI(M), released its manifesto for the upcoming assembly elections in West Bengal on Saturday, emphasizing industrial development and job creation.
The manifesto promises to fill all vacant positions in the state government and attract significant investments in the private sector by reforming the state’s industrial policy.
Biman Bose, a veteran leader of CPI(M) and chairman of the Left Front, pledged a guarantee of 120 days of employment in urban areas and 200 days in rural regions, with a daily wage set at ₹600.
Additionally, the manifesto commits to filling vacant posts in the state government through a transparent recruitment process within the next five years, whether through the West Bengal School Service Commission or the West Bengal Public Service Commission.
Other major promises include increasing the minimum support price (MSP) for 16 agricultural products by 1.5 times, providing free electricity for up to 100 units, strictly enforcing laws to prevent illegal filling of water bodies, and forming 2 million self-help groups (SHGs) to empower women over the next five years.
The Left Front also pledged a special health insurance scheme for senior citizens and a pension scheme for the elderly with a monthly limit of ₹6,000.
The manifesto highlights the establishment of dedicated schools, colleges, and hospitals for minorities and backward communities.
After the manifesto launch, Bose stated that another key focus area would be reducing the heavy debt accumulated during the 15-year rule of the Trinamool Congress in West Bengal, which includes eliminating unnecessary and non-planned expenditures.
