Leaders Embrace Eco-Friendly Transport Following PM Modis Call

New Delhi, May 18: In response to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s appeal to conserve fuel and reduce petrol and diesel consumption, leaders from the BJP and NDA across the country have begun utilizing public and environmentally friendly transportation options. On Monday, numerous leaders supported the Prime Minister’s initiative by traveling via electric vehicles, bicycles, and the metro.

In New Delhi, BJP MP Manoj Tiwari and NDMC Vice Chairman Kuljeet Chahal opted for an electric auto for their commute, later switching to the metro.

Meanwhile, in Chandigarh, Haryana government minister Arvind Kumar Sharma cycled to his office. He emphasized that adhering to the Prime Minister’s call for fuel conservation is a collective responsibility. He urged the public to adopt bicycles and public transport for short distances.

Minister Sharma stated, “I also cycled to Panchkula. I am following the Prime Minister’s appeal to save fuel, and this is our shared effort. This is my small contribution towards fuel conservation. Whenever we are in Chandigarh, whether commuting from our residences to offices, the secretariat, assembly, or meetings at the Chief Minister’s residence, we should strive to use bicycles as much as possible.”

Haryana Minister Krishna Kumar Bedi also traveled by bicycle. He remarked, “The Prime Minister’s appeal should be implemented in its true spirit and adhered to. It is our responsibility to convey this message to the public and ensure its implementation. Today, there is a cabinet meeting, and everyone should make an effort to come from their homes to the meeting venue, which is not far.”

He reiterated that wherever possible, public transport should be utilized, and new arrangements for public transport should be promoted.

Uttar Pradesh Deputy Chief Minister Brajesh Pathak noted that the public and party workers have positively embraced the Prime Minister’s appeal. He mentioned that their vehicle convoy has been limited, using fewer vehicles as needed.

Pathak stated, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has urged the public to reduce the use of petroleum products, and the people of the state have willingly accepted this. We, along with our party workers, are also using electric vehicles. Our convoy has been reduced. One vehicle carries security personnel and staff, while another carries me and my team. This will continue until the global situation improves.”

In Lucknow, Uttar Pradesh government minister Danish Ansari was seen traveling in an electric car. He stressed the need for collective efforts to utilize national resources judiciously and protect the environment. He emphasized promoting shared vehicle use and eco-friendly transport.

Ansari said, “Prime Minister Narendra Modi has appealed for the limited use of national resources, and we all should support this appeal. We will travel locally in the same vehicle and promote the use of environmentally friendly transport. It is our responsibility to work for the country’s interest and advance the nation. That is our message.”

In Vijayapura, Karnataka, BJP MP Ramesh Jigajinagi supported the Prime Minister’s appeal by using an electric vehicle. He asserted that reducing dependence on fuel is essential and claimed that the Congress party is weakening in Karnataka and across India.

In Bihar, following the Prime Minister’s appeal, the state transport department has launched AC bus services on five routes for secretariat employees. Transport Minister Damodar Rawat stated that employees are being encouraged to use public transport instead of private vehicles.

He noted, “We have not flagged off electric buses for secretariat employees. Instead, we have started running AC buses for them from five different locations.”

Additionally, LJP (Ram Vilas) MP Arun Bharti emphasized the necessity of fuel savings and prudent resource use for the country’s interest in the current global circumstances. He urged the public to follow the Prime Minister’s suggestions. Furthermore, Minister Mithilesh Tiwari announced that a ‘No Vehicle Day’ will be observed in the state to reduce fuel consumption. He supported PM Modi’s call for preparations in light of the global crisis.
